GOD boils down to one thing, PROTECTION. We beseech its protection from all the bad things for which it is credited, most frequently Hell and the cruel indifferences of nature. Our greatest fears are of things we cannot control, even God itself, so we resort to plea and submission to an anthropomorphized figment. What could be more irrational?
